“Food is more than just nutrition for our bodies. It nourishes the soul. It brings people together. The art of cooking can be passed and shared down for many generations. A certain bite of a dish can bring you back to a moment in time…”

Welcome to Kiera’s Kitchen, I’m Kiera. I’m not sure how many people actually read the about me’s but if you’re here i’m glad. I am just a self-taught cook who loves the whole art of cooking and food, and want to share it with everyone. My love of food truly began when I started watching Food Network with my mom back in high school. On weekends we would sit on the couch and eat our lunch, watching our favorites like Bobby Flay, Giada and Rachael Ray. I would then take what I learned on there and try to remake the dishes for my family. One dish I remember particularly wanting to make were these ricotta stuffed zucchini blossoms from Giada. I have still yet to make them and they WILL be here on KKB Food one day, with my own twist.

I have a very creative mind that can often times be manic. So when I start to create, I become all in. I started collecting cookbooks, watching food network and the show Chopped all day long. Going into my twenties I decided to begin making my hobby into a passion. I bought my first two cookbooks from my favorite food instagram pages, Cravings by Chrissy Teigen and Half Baked Harvest (still one of my biggest inspirations.) I watched YouTube videos all day long, trying to perfect dishes from the hands of people familiar with the origins and culture. I thought out recipes all day long, and invested in my first real camera and iPad. I was nervous to create a page on social media, but one day I went for it and KKB Food was born.

I spent my twenties cooking for whoever would let me. Having my parents taste test all my new ideas. Catering a huge family party for all my aunts, uncles, cousins with trays and trays of food I made myself the night before. Holding dinner down my parents basement with different courses set up on an old little table for my girlfriends, “The Basement Dinners.” Bringing dishes to every event I can. About twenty-three is when I decided I wanted to create a cook-book. The ideas were flooding out of me. Recipes, design, layouts, promotions. The notebooks were filling up. And in the early stages I got pregnant. For the next two and a half years my world was focused on this beautiful baby boy. I still cooked, had little spurts of inspiration where my instagram page had a week of new posts, but it was hard to stay consistent working full time and raising my son. This is where KBoozeandBites was created.

I am always going out to eat, getting take out on busy days, restaurants are my favorite place to go. So I thought why not make it part of my business I am trying to build. Share reviews and the history of the places, put a face to the establishments. You would be shocked how much rich history so many places have. Everywhere has a story and someone who had an idea, like me, maybe in their parents basement.

Over the past decade I constantly evolved as a cook. I draw inspiration from all different places, people, and things. My favorite cooking show is Anthony Bourdain’s parts unknown. I love the rich culture and appreciation of where food comes from, or how things are done in the Country of origin. My favorite chef is Gordon Ramsay. I always say if I wasn’t such a nervous person, I would love to go on Top Chef and get an apron. My hopes are to continue to share my recipes, give people honest reviews of the best places to eat, and turn my kitchen into a business. One day I hope you can walk thru the doors of Kiera’s Kitchen, my first restaurant and enjoy my cooking for yourself. If you read down to here, thanks for the support. I hope this page brings you joy like all the food pages that inspired me, cheers!
