KB’s mini Carbone pizzas
I was wandering the aisles of my local shop-rite when I came across this little hidden gem. I know, jarred sauce seems crazy to some. But I find that there are a few truly good substitutes for when you’re making a quick dish that calls for tomato sauce to cut down time. Now i’m not saying replace this with your Grandma’s Sunday recipe. But for these little mini pizzas, the Carbone’s tomato basil sauce was delicious.
I made two different mini pizzas with this sauce. A spicy ricotta and a truffle honey Margherita.
Ingredients:
2 mini naan breads, or regular size. You can find these in your bread section, or bakery section.
Carbones tomato basil sauce - About 4 tbsp - If you can’t find this sauce, I really like Rao’s brand
Hot cherry peppers - About 1/3 cup
Ricotta - about 2 tbsp
Grated Parmesan
Cracked pepper
Fresh basil leaves
Thin sliced genoa salami - I used about 5 slices
Shaved parmesan
DiBruno’s truffle honey - You can substitute this for regular honey, or add a drizzle of truffle oil and regular honey if you can’t find truffle honey
Olive oil
Cooking spray
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 425
- Line your baking sheet with foil
- Spray foil with a little cooking spray, assemble your pizzas
Spicy Ricotta:
Add a layer of Carbone’s tomato basil sauce
Add small dollops of ricotta as many or as little as you’d like
Cover with a few slices of hot cherry peppers, if you don’t like spicy you can substitute this for sweet or roasted peppers
Cracked pepper
Add to pan and lightly drizzle olive oil on top
Truffle Honey Margherita:
Add a layer of your salami
Add a layer of shaved parmesan
Cover with Carbone’s tomato basil sauce
Add fresh basil leaves and sprinkle with parmesan and cracked pepper
- Place pizzas in oven & bake @425 for 10 minutes on middle rack
- Move to bottom rack & cook additional 5 minutes
- Once pizzas are removed; drizzle Margherita with your truffle honey
- Enjoy!
