Copycat Chic Fil A Sammy
So we all know nothing will beat the convenience of going to a chic fil a or having it delivered. But it’s a Sunday. And you had maybe one too many “mommy juices” the night before. And all you’re thinking about is a chic fil a sammy with that delicious chic fil a sauce (which apparently they sell now but shhh) So here is the next best thing. AND it’s grilled so a little more guilt free.
Chicken marinade:
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tsp salt
1 tbsp garlic powder
Orange or lemon zest
Marinade chicken at least 20 minutes or overnight
Grill chicken , adding a slice of cheese at the very end to melt on - we used cooper sharp because that’s what we had, but it calls for pepper jack
Honey bbq sauce:
2 Tbsps of honey mustard - I used ken's steakhouse honey mustard
2 Tbsps of bbq sauce - I used Lawry's honey bbq marinade
1/2 tsp liquid smoke
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp paprika
1/2 tsp black pepper
Mix & keep in fridge until needed
Assemble:
• lightly toast buns in pan with butter
• Add honey bbq sauce to bottom of the bun
• Top with tomato slice (and lettuce if using, we didn’t have any)
• Add chicken with cheese
• Top with bacon * optional
• Add more sauce to top bun if you’d like
*For my bacon I cooked in a pan, sprinkled some black pepper on top and drizzled a little liquid smoke for extra flavor. This is optional but it gave a nice smokiness to the bacon.
