Philly Favs - Takeout Pt.1

Working in Philadelphia, one of my favorite things is getting to order lunch to the office & try different things. Here i’ll share some of my favorite take-out joints for soups, sammy’s, tacos, sushi & more!

Sweetgreen - Philadelphia, Pa : The idea of sweet green came from three college students Nicholas Jammet, Nathaniel Ru and Jonathan Neman. They were tired of the slow, expensive healthy options, or the fast, inexpensive unhealthy options. They started their first store in an old little Tavern. They now have 122 stores operating across the United States. Relying on locally sourced and fresh ingredients here you’ll find delicious soups, salads, rice bowls & more. They highlight local bowls like the blackened catfish Atlanta bowl, the garlic chili shrimp Houston bowl, or create your own my favorite thing to do. Pick your greens, your grains, your toppings, an array of different dressings and you HAVE to get the slice of bread with the hot sauce to dip on the side. This place has a great back story, a wonderful mission and delicious fresh meals. Check it out!

Pasha’s Halal Food - Philadelphia, PA : I am a big fan of gyros. I almost always get one every time i’m in Wildwood at ‘The Original Hotspot’ located on the boardwalk. With a ton of great reviews online I decided to try this place out one day. I went with the original style lamb gyro, added pickles, red onion, bell peppers and cucumber. I also added both the green and white sauce. It wasn’t a typical tzatziki but it was still great and the green sauce was so different and good. Meat had good texture and flavor and the pita was super soft and pillowy. I also added and order of the falafel bites which weren’t dry at all. I chose a side of the white and green sauce to dip and wow. The green sauce is spicy so a dip of that then the cool down in the white. Packed with flavor, authentic and very affordable. Coming from a food truck located in the Temple area for years, this place knows what it is doing.
