Maple bacon brussels

Brussel sprouts seem to be one of those things you either love or hate. If you would’ve told ten year old Kiera who had buttered bagels and peanut butter and fluffs everyday that she would love Brussels she’d laugh in your face. But here we are young grasshopper, not only loving Brussels but made a way to make them taste like the candy of veggies. Sticky warm maple, crispy salty pancetta. This side dish will definitely turn you into a Brussel sprouts fan.

Ingredients:

Frozen petite Brussel sprouts - 1 bag

1 package of diced pancetta or prosciutto

Butter - about 3 tbsp of butter

Corn starch - 1 tsp

Brown sugar - 1 tbsp

Apple cider vinegar - 2 tbsp

Honey - drizzle

Maple syrup - drizzle (about 1/2 tbsp)

Salt - 1/2 tsp

Pepper - 1/2 tsp

Red pepper flakes: ½ tsp

Instructions:

Add 2 tbsp of butter to a pan and turn on medium heat

Once butter melts add frozen mini brussel sprouts and cook until a slight char / browning develops on outside

Mid way thru add your dice pancetta

Stir to prevent burning

Turn down to a medium low heat add your cornstarch / mix

Add in your apple cider vinegar

Add in 1 tbsp of butter and seasonings

Once all mixed together turn to low and drizzle with maple syrup and honey

Keep on low covered about 10 minutes

Remove covering and keep warm on low until ready to serve
